Chamonix

On April 4, 1860, the town of Chamonix became definitively French. Since then, the extension “Mont-Blanc” has been added to the name of the town following an agreement with the commune of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains. Situated between the famous Aiguilles Rouges and Mont-Blanc massifs, Chamonix is an essential meeting point for mountaineering enthusiasts and more generally for mountain sportsmen. Because of its unique sporting nature, Chamonix has a highly cosmopolitan character.
